Beautiful base that is mlb authenticated to being on field during the 2007 Home Run Derby. The on-base artwork depicts an image of kayakers out on McCovey Cove outside of what was then AT&T Park, as well as the home run derby trophy. Vladimir Guerrero was the winner of the Home Run Derby that year. Much was made of balls that would be hit into McCovey Cove (the broadcast team even had a scuba diver in the bay with camera equipment, ready to watch the “splash hits” from the underwater view), but alas, no balls were hit into the Cove during the derby. Before the Derby, Willie McCovey came out in an on-field ceremony and handed bats to each of the participants. This base is actually photomatched to a getty image depcting this actual base on the field during the home run derby! Super rare home run derby base–probably won’t see another one of these on the market again from San Francisco.
